Rising Ann Arbor singer and bassist Kelsey Detering writes songs with personal and introspective lyrics from the subconscious mind. She offers something raw and real, and connects with listeners through the power of how music makes you feel. This year, Kelsey. took her electric live show to the Austin Rhythm Revival showcase at SXSW week 2026. Her performances invite audiences to experience a night of danceable rock n' roll.
Kelsey released her debut full-length studio album, LOVE HARD, on August 7, 2026. LOVE HARD explores themes of love, passion, heartbreak, and the intersection of emotional and physical connection through a dynamic blend of old school rock and bass-driven disco soundscapes. Featuring 16 tracks—including the lead single "Wasted"—the album represents a bold new chapter for Kelsey. Drawing inspiration from her rock and roll roots and her newfound love for bass playing, the project delivers an immersive auditory experience defined by a combination of danceable songs, emotional ballads, instrumentals, and old school album segues in what she calls an “organic concept album.”
"With this album, I wanted to go back to a time when records were truly made as one cohesive piece of art. Not just a collection of songs, but something that comes together as a whole. Everything was built from scratch in the studio. I wanted the songs to both stand on their own, and take the listener on an epic journey from one to the next."
